About SoFAB and the Camp

Welcome campers, parents, and foodies everywhere! We are so excited to welcome you and kick off a great summer of cooking, learning, and laughing together!

This camp is just one of the amazing programs associated with the Southern Food and Beverage Museum. Check out the SoFAB website here!

The Kids Culinary Camp is a free, one-week camp for kids from 2nd through 5th grade. In addition to the development of cooking skills, the camp also focuses on helping young people to choose healthy lifestyles through interactive nutritional instruction and fun physical activities. By the end of the week, we hope to see campers that are not only confident in the kitchen, but also equipped with the knowledge to make healthy choices and to continue to celebrate the culture of New Orleans through - you guessed it - food!

Social media plug: Check us out on Facebook! Make sure to "Like" the Southern Food and Beverage Museum Facebook page to get updates on what's shakin' at SoFAB and view our camp photo albums! Also, if there are any pinners in the house, check out the SoFAB Pinterest page, where we have a board called "Cooking with Kids" to keep those little ones happy at home with kid-friendly meals and snacks!

We would like to thank our generous sponsors for making this camp possible and for introducing our campers to the wonderful world of cooking! Many thank yous to Domino Foods, Inc., the New Orleans Rotary Fund, Inc., and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, Inc.!

Also, we would like to thank the staff at First Grace United Methodist Church who have graciously allowed us to use their premises for the camp while the SoFAB Museum is in transition to its new location (find out more about the move here). A special shout-out to Chef David who taught us how to use the industrial-strength dish-washing machine and has spared us from many extra hours in the kitchen! :)

That's all for now! Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you enjoy the blog!
